Background

Coming from the enterprise sector, developing application servers for high scalable enterprise server applications in the late 90s, I got hooked up to the open-source and freesoftware movement through free software projects like apache and jboss. I joined the debian project in 2002/2003, working on mozilla products; looking for new challenges I took over maintaining security backports for old mozilla branches and joined the mozilla security group in 2004; In 2006 I joined Canonical and took over responsibility as a ubuntu mozillateam lead as part of the ubuntu desktop effort; over time I developed my generalist features and took over responsibility for the ubuntu networking stack and later also bluetooth; looking for new challenges I then excited about the ubuntu mobile and arm efort and joined the canonical mobile team as the tech lead. My main interest there was shaping a full user experience stack for mobile devices in ubuntu and the middleware that is required for that. Early 2010 I joined linaro as the User Platform Manager.
