Linaro Connect USA 2013 (LCU13) was held in Santa Clara, California October 28 – November 1, 2013. LCU13 was the largest Linaro Connect to date with almost 500 attendees participating over the five day event. There were several announcements made during the event and a number of guest speakers.
LCU13 kicked off with Linaro’s CEO, George Grey announcing that Linaro has joined the Open Compute Project (OCP) and will contribute the LAVA LMP (Linaro Multi-purpose probe) to the foundation. Linaro has become the place where a broad cross-section of companies collaborate on the future of Linux software on ARM-based servers. Linaro’s intention in joining OCP is to bring together the hardware and software discussion and help accelerate the release of more efficient server solutions.
In addition to the announcement about OCP Mr. Grey gave a presentation discussing “Servers to the Internet of Things”. Linaro also had two guest speakers, Dong Wei, HP Fellow, UEFI Forum VP (Chief Executive) and ACPI SIG Secretary, who discussed “Enabling next generation configuration and power management on ARM” and announced the inclusion of the ACPI specification in the UEFI Forum portfolio; and Jim Zemlin from the Linux Foundation.
