IT Services Systems Administrator

Part of the Information Technology Services team at Linaro with responsibility for operational IT systems throughout the company. We are seeking a systems administrator who can work in a self-assured professional manner rather than follow a scripted path. You will be working in an independent and distributed environment coupled with close team interactions.

You will work full time in our Cambridge office. Working from home will be occasionally permitted. Some travel is required. Some out-of-hours work is required.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • System and Network administration of  Ubuntu GNU/Linux servers involving installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, and application support
  • System administration of Ubuntu GNU/Linux EC2 instances
  • Creation of standardized system administration procedures which produce repeatable success stories
  • Heavy collaboration with Linaro developers on IT solutions for strategic projects
  • Assisting the IT Services Manager with long range planning, special projects, and other duties as required

Personal Skills

Required skills and experience:

  • At least two years of Linux systems administration experience in a corporate environment
  • Ubuntu or Debian experience
  • Amazon EC2 experience
  • Scripting (preferably Python, perl and shell)
  • Security (from network, through to operating system and application) skills
  • IP networking experience including DNS configuration
  • Able to communicate clearly in English especially using email and instant messaging
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community
  • Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation, delivering according to a schedule

 

Desired skills and experience:

  • Google Apps
  • Knowledge or experience of the following tools/infrastructure: git, hudson, jenkins, jira, crowd, OpenID, LDAP, puppet, MySQL
  • Experience of web technologies such as PHP and Django
  • Knowledge or experience of using and managing IRC
